A Bollywood rendezvous in Mumbai

Bollywood is India’s cultural ambassador, with its larger-than-life characters and vibrant song-and-dance routines entertaining millions around the world. But until now, little has been known about the visionaries behind these magnum opuses.

Modelled on the US television series “The Actor’s Studio”, The Boss Dialogues promise intimate conversations with Bollywood’s biggest directors and producers, usually inaccessible to cineastes. Hosted by well-known film journalist Indu Mirani, the monthly series is open to anyone who wants an insider perspective on this secretive yet seductive world.

So far, the series has interviewed the young and talented director and producer Farhan Akhtar and India’s most successful woman director,Farah Khan. The forthcoming June edition promises to be equally exciting, with director Kabir Khan in the hot seat. Khan has successfully transitioned from hard-hitting documentaries to mainstream cinema, with Ek Tha Tiger becoming the second highest grossing Bollywood movie ever. Host Mirani believes that “the audience stands to gain from his unconventional career trajectory as he is among the few outsiders to succeed in Bollywood”.

After the informal Q&A session, the floor is thrown open to the audience. Cocktails, conversations with fellow film buffs and dancing to Bollywood beats promise to make this a stellar evening.

The June Boss Dialogues is held at Escobar, a tapas bar in Bandra on 30 June at 5:30 pm. The online registration process is simple and free, although the number of seats is limited to 100.
